Fuel Efficiency Calculator

About calculating gasoline costs

Enter the mileage, amount of gasoline consumed, and gasoline price, and click the "Calculate fuel consumption" button to calculate the fuel consumption and gasoline cost.

The unit of fuel consumption displayed will be "km/L", "L/100km", or "mpg" depending on the selected gasoline amount and gasoline price.

You can enter the distance and gasoline amount in the following units.

  Unit name Unit
Distance Kilometers km
Miles mi
Gasoline amount Liters L
Gallons (US) gal (US)
Gallons (UK) gal (UK)
Gasoline prices Dollars per liter $/L
Dollars per gallon (US) $/gal (US)
Dollars per gallon (UK) $/gal (UK)

How to calculate fuel efficiency and gasoline costs

Fuel efficiency

When the distance traveled is "km" and the amount of gasoline consumed is "L/km", the fuel consumption is the distance that can be traveled with 1 liter, so it can be calculated by dividing the distance traveled by the amount of gasoline consumed.

Fuel efficiency(km/L) = Distance(km) ÷ Gasoline consumption(L)

Gasoline cost

When the gasoline price is "Dollars/L", the amount is per liter, so you can calculate the gasoline cost by multiplying the gasoline price by the amount of gasoline consumed.

Gasoline cost(Dollars) = Gasoline prices(Dollars/L) × Gasoline consumption(L)

If you want to find fuel efficiency using "L/100km"

When the fuel efficiency is "L/100km", it is expressed in units of how many liters are required to travel 100km.

First, you can calculate the amount of gasoline consumed per kilometer by dividing the amount of gasoline consumed by the distance traveled.

By multiplying the amount of gasoline by 100, you can calculate the amount of gasoline required to travel 100km.

Fuel efficiency(L/km) = Gasoline consumption(L) ÷ Distance(km)
Fuel efficiency(L/100km) = Gasoline consumption(L) ÷ Distance(km) × 100
