Gasoline Cost Calculator

About calculating gasoline costs

Enter the mileage, fuel consumption, and gasoline price, and click the "Calculate gas cost" button to calculate the amount of gasoline you need and the gasoline cost.

You can enter distance and fuel consumption in the following units.

  Unit name Unit
Distance Kilometers km
Miles mi
Fuel efficiency Kilometers per liter km/L
Liters per 100 kilometers L/100km
Miles per gallon (US) mpg (US)
Miles per gallon (UK) mpg (UK)
Gasoline prices Dollars per liter $/L
Dollars per gallon (US) $/gal (US)
Dollars per gallon (UK) $/gal (UK)

How to calculate the amount of gasoline and gasoline cost

Amount of gasoline required

When the mileage is "km" and the fuel consumption is "km/L", the fuel consumption is the distance that can be traveled with 1 liter, so the amount of gasoline required can be calculated by dividing the mileage by the fuel consumption.

Amount of gasoline required(L) = Distance(km) ÷ Fuel efficiency(km/L)

Gasoline cost

When the gasoline price is "Dollars/L", the price is per liter, so you can calculate the gasoline cost by multiplying the gasoline price by the amount of gasoline required.

Gasoline cost(Dollars) = Gasoline prices(Dollars/L) × Amount of gasoline required(L)

When the fuel consumption unit is "L/100km"

When the fuel efficiency is "km/L", it is expressed in units of kilometers traveled per liter.

In addition to "km/L," fuel efficiency is sometimes expressed in units of "L/100km," which indicates how many liters are required to travel 100 km.

At this time, "L/100km" can be calculated by converting it to "km/L".

We want to convert the amount of gasoline required to travel 100km to the distance traveled in 1 liter, so we can convert it to "km/L" by dividing 100 by this amount of gasoline.

Fuel efficiency(km/L) = 100 ÷ Fuel efficiency(L/100km)
